There’s been talk for some time about “The Carrie Diaries”, a prequel to Sex and the City which is set in the ’80s. Who would play Carrie in the series which comes from the CW network, the team behind Gossip Girl?
Apparently not any of my predictions, but that was always going to be the case! This morning the news popped up in my Facebook feed that the young lady set to play the role is AnnaSophia Robb, with this accompanying image (styled by Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman):
The young starlet has had the tick of approval from the original Carrie herself, Sarah Jessica Parker – but will she get the same nod from fans? That is yet to be decided. The Carrie Diaries books written by Candace Bushnell have a steady following, so it is likely the show will be aimed at younger, new fans rather than those who religiously watched SATC.
We will have to wait and see if CW they can bring back the ’80s, especially for those teens who never experienced the reality of the decade. Judging by this image, it looks like they will be passing on the blue eye shadow and shoulder pads though!
