On Sunday 17th the Wallan Environment Group will tease your green thumbs by showing you how to weave and twine with plants.   The venue is yet to be decided (keep watching the Council webpage for more info)

  • How to recognise and name local indigenous plants and grasses suitable for weaving and twining.
  • Where to locate and how to grow suitable plants, using the re-vegetation of Wallan’s local waterways as examples
  • Weaving and twining a small object
  • Creating a shared community art piece

There is always something to do in the area so make sure you book your cabin so you can spend a comfortable and relaxed weekend with us.

Annie’s New Events Calendar

We are really excited about our new Events Calendar which we recently set up.  This calendar lists details of local event s for each month and when you click on the listing you can see relevant details.  In addition, you can also click on the Event List tab that lists the upcoming events.

There is always something happening in the Upper Plenty, Wallan or Whittlesea areas. For example during September we already have listings for the Step back in time at La Page Homestead, the opening of Funfields as well as for Alisa’s Family Restaurant who are currently taking bookings for Father’s Day.

We think this calendar will be great for our visitors.  If you are thinking of coming to stay at Annie’s Cedar Farm Cottages, it will be good to know what is happening in the area around the time of your stay.

We think it will be great for our local businesses and event organisers, too.  We would like to encourage businesses, organisations or individuals who would like to list details of their upcoming event to contact us.  There is no cost for your listing.  We love to promote our beautiful area.

If you have an event that you would like to have listed on our calendar simply send details to our email address:  annie@annies-cedar-farm-cottages.com.au

Celtic in Kilmore

Next weekend is the Kilmore Celtic Festival.  I’d love to encourage you to come along and enjoy yourself at this happy and musical weekend. You might even join in the dancing!

Pull out your dancing shoes and save a dance for me.

Whittlesea Country Music Festival

The Whittlesea Country Music Festival is coming up again. February 10-12 will see people flooding to the normally quiet town of Whittlesea to see top name country singers perform. The town buzzes with music, food, street stalls and buskers.

This year the line up includes:
Adam Brand
Shane Nicholson
Bill Chambers
Kim Richey (USA)
The Black Sorrows
Carter and Carter
Felicity Urquhart
Luke Dickens
Luke Austin
Sam Hawksley

The weekend kicks off with a launch party on Friday night and continues right through to 5 pm Sunday.  You can see the program here.

At this stage we only have one cabin available for that weekend.  If you are coming to the festival (and how could you miss it?) you will need to book quickly.  This weekend event is very popular and most visitors to the area stay for the whole festival.

Book your spot now via our Bookings page or just give us a call on 03 5783 2234 / 0400900834

Come to the Whittlesea Show.

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, come along to the annual Whittlesea Show.  The Whittlesea Show is one of the biggest shows in the region and it runs for the whole weekend.

There are four separate areas of action.  The Oaks stage feastures the Showgirl competitions, performances from Whittlesea Secondary College and Whittlesea Music School along with a variety of displays.  The Tide stage is the music centre with guests Rachel McCracken, Reg Poole and Owen Blundell, the Police Pipe Band and more.  The Village Green has more performances and displays, too.  The Main Arena is the scene of the Great Parade as well as shows by Pete and the Circus Dogs.  There will also be good old-fashioned fun with egg and spoon races and even a sack race.  Your kids will love it!

You will find all the regular side shows as well as displays of farming equipment and stock.

You can meet Ronald McDonald, see the free circus and take a free stage coach ride.

There is always plenty of food stalls to choose from so you won’t go hungry and of course, you can’t go home without your showbags!

It’s an action packed weekend and it is always great fun for the family.

Gates open at 9am both days.  A word of advice – get there early and avoid the queue.

If you’d like to know what’s on when pop over to the Whittlesea Show site and download their leaflet.
