‘King of Crunk’ Lil Jon is heading on down to the Brisbane hot-spot The Met, in one of only four Australian shows this April.
Tickets go on Sale to the general public this Friday 23rd March for the show on Saturday 28th April.
Lil Jon played to a crowd of 6,200 in Las Vegas last month but for The Met show in April he will be playing an ‘intimate’ show.
Director of Entertainment at The MET, Michael Watt, said Vegas sized crowds in concert venues could definitely have been on the cards for Lil Jon but fans appreciate ‘keepin’ it real’ in a club.
“It also amps it up for our loyal Friday and Saturday-nighters,” Watt said. “Earlier this month we were one of only two clubs in Australia to have Skrillex, it sold-out in days and went off.
“We reckon Lil Jon will too.”
The strategy for Skrillex was to announce the tour as tickets went on-sale to try and keep things fair, and it went very well. Lil Jon tickets will sell differently with a tiered roll-out for VIPs, MET members and then the general public.
MET’s VIP tickets went on sale by invitation only on Tuesday the 20th and these tickets include private access to the upstairs SPYBAR.
Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd will see the pre-sale of an allocation of members priced tickets and the genreal public have access to $50 first-release tickets from Friday the 23rd of March ( plus booking fees)
Competitive ticket pricing and the intimate club setting should ensure fast ticket sales, to avoid disappointment this is a gig fans really need to pre-book tickets and not wait to buy them at the door – certainly saves disappointment.
Lil Jon performs in a genre-bending style which has been called Crunk, it is from rap to hip-hop, electro to house and reggae to rock – Crunk!
Crunk is energetic, hyped and pumped up, as much about the attitude as it is about the music.
Lil Jon is credited with having galvanised the term into the mainstream and has said of the lifestyle, “we live Crunk and party like rock stars.”
Lil Jon is an extremely popular artist on Twitter and Facebook, he is generous with shout-outs and often posts in recognition and appreciation of other artists.
Collaborating is something Lil Jon does quite a bit off and he has worked on new sounds with Pitbull, R.Kelly, the Marley borthers, Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne and IceCube.
He also scored a Grammy for Yeah! and a Billboard Top 10 of Lovers & Friends which were team efforts with Usher and Ludacris.
Partnering with LMFAO has resulted in the pumping Outta Your Mind, Shots and Drink.
Lil Jon has visited Australia four times previously and this will be his third visit to Brisvegas. In 2005 he supported 50 cent and then in 2009 he opened for Wu Tang Clan in Sydney and Melbourne. 2007 saw his headline his own club and theatre shows and last year he played Hobart, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.
The MET show on April 28 is one of only four Australian shows so get ready to party!

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
