At the Movies: Monster Summer

For our Friday family movie night we were lucky enough to watch Monster Summer which is out now in cinemas.  Hubby, myself and my son (14) really enjoyed this movie that was full of suspense, adventure and some frights.

Noah and his friends’ summer holidays are interrupted by some strange events with kids in the area appearing vacant and not themselves after unusual incidents on the island.

After Noah’s best mate Ben is impacted he enlists the help of a retired policeman played by Mel Gibson. The teens try to save the children of the island from evil mysterious forces.

This was perfect for my son as it was not too scary or gory and still had us jumping in parts.  There were some great lines that also made us laugh.  Perfect for a family movie that all can enjoy.  We all rated it as a great movie.

Monster Summer is rated PG with mild fantasy themes and violence. Directed by David Henrie, starring Mel Gibson, Mason Thames and Lorraine Bracco.
