Travel Companion Lyrics
I’m driving on the open road
I’ll drive until my mind grows numb
I will drive until my feet feel sore
From doing nothing at all
I pull into the service station
I smile at the girl behind the counter
I buy myself a cup of coffee
And I think about buying cigarettes oh no
I’m back onto the road again
I’m practicing conversations
I wish I had a dog
So I didn’t look so lonely
My sister’s got a boyfriend now
She’s found her very own travel companion
I guess I’ll have to go alone
And do the things on my own
If I had a daughter
I would tell her not to order
The same things twice
Cos there are too many other things that are nice
I pull into the service station
I smile at the boy behind the counter
I buy myself a cup of coffee
And I think about buying cigarettes oh no
I’m back onto the road again
Phoning home to my mother
Just to tell her that I’m ok
And I’ll see her in a couple of days
The sun is setting in the distance
I wish I had a dog
So that I could shut my eyes at the rest stop
And not worry about getting murdered
I pull into the service station
I talk to the lady behind the counter
She tells me of her daughter
And how she never orders on thing twice
Doesn’t order the same thing twice
I buy myself a pack of cigarettes
And I’m back onto the road again
I’m thinking about marrying
The next person who is nice
So that I can have my own travel companion

I am a mother of four beautiful children. I can’t leave a book unfinished which equals a lot of late nights! When I’m not reading you can find me in the garden, or helping out at Beauty and Lace.
