Drawn From Bees is a rock band from Brisbane whose influences include Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, ELO and The Rolling Stones. Drawn From Bees pay tribute to all of these influential artists on their upcoming album. An album which resonates with depth and mood; heavy with guitar reminiscent of the sound that Keith Richards is renowned for.
The new album is called The May King and His Paper Crown and is due for release in 2012, it follows on the heels of their debut album Fear Not the Footsteps of the Departed which received a great deal of praise.
The focus for the album is the freedom and creativity of the 70’s, recreated for the modern ear. This album was envisioned without the cliches that often accompany a band that has been inspired by the past.
Of Walls and Teeth is the first single off the album and will be released on August 26th. This is a song that discusses the fear of conflict, of fighting with a drooling wolf ready to tear you apart. It’s about the horrible things that can be fueled by anger and ego as well as about the fact that more often than not the fight is about who is willing to fight the hardest to prove their point.
Live performances by Drawn From Bees have been impressive and they have performed at recent festivals which include Sounds of Spring in Woodford and the V Festival. This year they have toured internationally performing an extensive tour of the United States and included showcase performances at South by Southwest in Austin, Canadian Music Week in Toronto as well as Music Matters in Hong Kong. They also took part in an A&R Worldwide Showcase in Los Angeles, London and Perth.
