Lady Gaga released a country version of her smash hit ‘Born This Way’ through her Twitter page and it has become a massive viral sensation.
March 24th saw the country version released to Lady Gaga’s fans as a gift. She is the first person to have 9,000,000 Twitter followers. In the first few days after release the recording has over 1,000,000 You Tube views and had garnered overwhelming praise.
April 5th sees the track officially issued for sale with a portion of proceeds benefiting charity. Lady Gaga, her record label and her publisher will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of the track to the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN was founded in 1990 and seeks to develop school climates which value difference for the positive contribution to creating a more diverse and vibrant community. GLSEN wants to see that every member of every school community is respected and valued regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
Born This Way – Country Road version was recorded recently while on tour and features new Lady Gaga vocals and the addition of guitar and harmonica, it was produced by Lady Gaga and Fernando Garibay.
The original version of Born This Way was in #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks starting with its debut February 11th. It’s the fastest song in history to reach sales of 1,000,000 copies. Born This Way is the title track and first single on Lady Gaga’s third album due for release May 23.
