Alfred Malabello signed the contract for his debut album on his 50th birthday, Happy Birthday Alfred, and the debut album, Ciao Bella, peaked at number 4 on the Jazz and Blues chart in Australia during its twenty-seven week stay in the Top Twenty. That’s what I call a hot debut! It certainly cemented him as a successful recording artist.
The debut album wasn’t the beginning for Alfred Malabello though. He has over 30 years experience on stages across the world and has built a reputation as one of Australia’s most remarkable live artists.
The Two Of Us showcases the man’s vocal talents and diversity in a soulful and romantic album that would make a perfect backdrop to any romantic evening. The album contains 8 English songs and 4 in Italian.
This album was recorded with acclaimed producer Paul Wilsthire, who has worked with Human Nature, Backstreet Boys and Marcia Hines, in Byron Bay. It features some of Australia’s finest musicians, including a twenty-piece orchestra.
The sounds on The Two Of Us are passionate and heartfelt, though at times extremely familiar. Some of these tracks I’m sure I know from another time and another artist but I just can’t place them.
A tour de force of burning passion, The Two Of Us contains “a fun introduction, a seduction, a courtship, foreplay, right through some slow whisper pillow talk.”
The Chicago classic Just You And Me is re-imagined here as Malabello has rewritten it in Italian and given it a new life.
Definitely an album that will get your toes tapping subconsciously and have you singing along in no time! Not generally something I would go out looking for but a fabulous soundtrack to that romantic or relaxing evening in.
