Nigel Wearne is a country/folk singer-songwriter whose music has an intimate and poignant narrative. His music combines finger-style guitar, honky tonk and the tell-tale country twang with honest story telling created with personally handcrafted guitars. Nigel Wearne delivers inspired and dynamic performances sure to touch you emotionally, and influenced by Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams.
‘Sweetest Delusion’ was recorded in 2009 and marked the beginning of a new chapter of explorative song-writing. It was recorded the old-fashioned way to 2″ tape and is entirely acoustic. The lyrical themes are broad, encompassing the Aboriginal tracker, finding the truth and selling flowers at the old folk’s home.
2011 saw Wearne perform a successful East Coast Tour, he has also performed at various music festivals across Australia. The most recent include 2012 Port Fairy Folk Festival, 2012 Gulgong Folk Festival and the 2011 Tablelands Folk Festival.
Early 2012 saw the inception of the country/folk band Nigel Wearne & The Cast Iron Promises which consists of Dan Watkins on Mandolin, Kat Mear on fiddle/viola and Andy Scott on double-bass. Nigel Wearne has been performing solo for 3 years and the formation of The Cast Iron Promises brings distinctive arrangements, rich harmonies and new life to Wearne’s music.
‘Black Crow’ is the highly anticipated new album set for release November 2nd which was recorded by Adelaide’s Mick Wordley. The album is made up of 12 tracks that illustrate Wearne’s diversity and his talent as one of Australia’s emerging songwriters.
To celebrate the release of the new album Nigel Wearne & The Cast Iron Promises are heading out on the road to play a string of shows, including multiple Festivals, details of the tour are below.

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
