With the cancellation of the Soundwave Revolution festival earlier this month rumours spread like wildfire that Alice Cooper really would feature in the nightmares of fans across the country when the news was confirmed that without Soundwave he would not be making his way to Australia this September.
It has been confirmed that Alice Cooper will be coming to Australia this September and the only nightmare will be the Welcome 2 My Nightmare album scheduled to be released on Friday 23rd September through Sony Music.
The granddaddy of shock rock and master of the macabre will be in the land of Oz for his headline theatre performances in Sydney and Melbourne as expected but he has also added shows in other major cities across the country to spread the No More Mr Nice Guy experience to many thousands more fans. The shows are being added in Brisbane, Perth and a second night in Melbourne. Fantastic news for fans across most of the country, and for those of us sobbing in S.A., well at least we can comfort ourselves with the new album!
This leg of the tour kicks off in New Zealand with a show at The Trusts Stadium in Auckland on Thursday 22nd of September before crossing the sea and starting to shock Aussie audiences in a run of shows beginning on Saturday 24th September at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
No More Mr Nice Guy then hits the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Monday 26th September, after having played the show to audiences in North America, South America and Europe since May to rave reviews from fans and the media worldwide. Hmm, maybe No More Mr Nice Guy is an apt tour title – I want Adelaide shows!
Melbourne is next for the already scheduled Thursday 29th September show and then the newly added Friday 30th September show before bypassing Adelaide on the way to the lat Australian show in Perth at Challenge Stadium on Sunday October 2nd.
These tickets are going to sell out super fast, so get in quick! Tickets for all NEW shows go on sale at 9am Thursday 8th September 2011
And then, for those of you who are unreasonably distances from any of the shows, and contemplating how you’ll cope; we have the Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ cd.
The album, has piqued my interest to say the least, but that’s not what I was going to say. The album was produced by Bob Ezrin, who produced the original Welcome To My Nightmare album in 1975, and plays host to a string of special guests – Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner (guitarists and surviving members of the original band ‘Nightmare’), Rob Zombie, Vince Gill, and for the biggest surprise of all – Ke$ha. Alice revisits his legendary nightmares on this album – which is something I am definitely interested in wrapping around my ears.
The original ‘Nightmare’ release is an all-time rock classic that spawned a worldwide theatrical tour and certified Alice Cooper as a visionary trailblazer whose influence persists today in rock, metal, pop, punk, theatre, television, film and much more. More than 35 years later, Alice and Ezrin have resurrected the horror and humour for a new generation.
To add to the excitement of the new album and the tour is the introduction of a new addition to Alice’s touring band. Australia’s very own Orianthi debuts with Alice and joins guitarist Steeven Hunter and Tommy Henriksen as well as drummer Glenn Sobel and long time bassist Chuck Garric.

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
