Adelaide host 100th show of Speak Now Tour

The final leg of Taylor Swift’s blockbuster SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR kicked off in Australia last weekend. Capacity crowds flocked to see the 6-time Grammy winning songstress strutting her stuff. Critics were impressed and crowds were buzzing!

Perth’s Burswood Dome hosted her first Australian show of this leg of the tour on Friday night.

But here in Adelaide we had the honour of celebrating the tour’s 100th show on Sunday night at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

2011 saw Taylor play stadiums and arenas across the globe – 17 countries and 98 shows! This month sees the tour reach it’s conclusion with 12 shows in Australia and New Zealand.

The sensational Speak Now tour is not the only fantastic piece of Taylor Swift news though. The 5th single off the Speak Now album, which is 5xPlatinum in the US and 2xPlatinum here in Australia, is “Ours” and is still rising to the top of the charts, now in the Top 5 – the first 4 singles from the album all reached #1 in the US. The “Ours” single has been certified Gold and sales have topped 850,000.

We can’t forget Awards season though and Taylor Swift has certainly not been forgotten in the nominations. She is nominated for three 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards: Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year. Then there’s the 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards where she is up for Favourite Female Singer and Favourite Song.

Magazine covers have seen her staring out at us recently, and will again soon with the April cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia and Vogue in February.

This extremely talented young woman is the reigning Billboard Woman of the Year and the AMA Artist of the Year, as well as the current Entertainer of the Year for the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.

Having said all of that it won’t surprise you to discover that Taylor Swift has more than 11.4 million Twitter followers – @taylorswift13 if you would like to increase that number and 29 million Facebook friends.

Still that doesn’t cover all of the Taylor titbits – finally I want to tell you about her role in Dr Seuss’s The LORAX which must have opened last weekend as well, and earned $70.7 million which makes it the biggest box-office debut of the year. Achieving also the biggest opening of any Dr Seuss adaptation, which means it topped 2000’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Taylor Swift voices the character of Audrey.

Just thinking about all of the things going on in the Taylor Swift camp right now is making me tired. What a gorgeous, talented young woman she has blossomed into. Congratulations Taylor!
