Much of the past year has seen Fogerty and his band travelling the world and playing unforgettable, timeless music to the millions to much acclaim.

John Fogerty is a true American treasure, one of popular music’s all-time greatest singers, guitar players, and songwriters.  His remarkable career began in his hometown of El Cerrito, California, soon earning massive popular and critical success with the one and only Creedence Clearwater Revival.  As leader of CCR, Fogerty forged a distinctive, groundbreaking sound all his own, equal parts blues, country, pop, rockabilly, R&B, swamp boogie, and Southern fried rock ‘n’ roll, all united by his uniquely evocative lyrical perspective.

Creedence Clearwater Revival called it quits long before (well no that long really but long enough) I was even born but that hasn’t stopped me being familiar with a great deal of their music. They had a succession of hit singles and platinum certified albums that remains unparalleled in rock ‘n’ roll history. From 1968 to 1971 they released music to dominate rock and pop radio, penned by Fogerty, that included Proud Mary, Down On The Corner, Born on the Bayou, Have you Ever Seen The Rain and Fortunate Son as well as the stunning cover of Suzie Q.

‘Green River’ was the second of three CCR album releases in 1969 and became the band’s first blockbuster. This is the album that contained ‘Bad Moon Rising’ and ‘Green River’ sitting alongside ‘Lodi’. This album spent three weeks at the top of the Bilboard 2000 and confirmed Fogerty’s status among the cream of American rock’n’roll artists.

‘Cosmo’s Factory’ was the 1970 release that is currently certified 4x-platinum by the RIAA and has undoubtedly stood the test of time. This was the band’s greatest critical triumph and biggest seller. I haven’t heard of the album but I certainly know it because these are some of the tracks on the album: Travelin’ Band, Who’ll Stop The Rain, Run Through The Jungle, Up Around The Bend, Looking Out My Back Door and i Heard It Through The Grapevine.

The 1972 split of Creednece Clearwater Revival saw Fogerty embark on a solo career that would prove to be just as impressive.

The 1990’s didn’t see a great deal of Fogerty live but by 2004 he made a full return to the road and has since added some pretty impressive highlights to his career.

Still going strong in 2011, Fogerty and his always electrifying backing band bring it each time they step upon a stage, performing his mind-blowing body of work to generation after generation of adoring fans.
