The Australian release of the highly anticipated Il Volo self titled debut album is finally here!
This album is definitely worthy of the acclaim it has received, with fantastic chart ratings internationally and has been certified Gold by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry for sales of 30,000 copies in Italy.
Il Volo have been classified pop-opera, quite a classical sound with a pop energy and feel. Classical is never going to be my ‘go to’ genre, I prefer my music a lot heavier, Il Volo have enough pop in their style that the album is quite upbeat and energetic.
The teen trio are Italian, and rose to fame after forming on the Italian singing competition Ti lascio una canzone, so it stands to reason that the bulk of the album is sung in Italian. I have no understanding of the language so have no idea about the lyrics to these songs yet this doesn’t really affect the listening experience. It would make great background music to a romantic evening or a dinner party, and nobody would be listening to make out the lyrics anyway.
The international version of this CD has been released with two additional songs, both of which are in English and sound fantastic.
The album was produced by Italian singer-producer Tony Renis and Humberto Gatica, an American record producer, music mixer and audio engineer who has worked with a lengthy list of acclaimed artists including Andrea Bocelli, Kenny Loggins, Michael Buble, Michael Jackson, Metallica, Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin to name only a very small few. Suffice it to say the list of artists he has worked with is long and diverse.
These teens are fast setting their sights on stardom so be sure to check them out.
