Noah Stewart is an African-American operatic tenor raised in Harlem whose debut album reached number 1 on the UK Classical Albums Chart.
Noah Stewart has made debuts in Bregenz, Detroit, Johannesburg, Leeds, Lisbon, London, New York and Paris which has helped him to establish a reputation as one of the fastest-rising young tenors in the world. His roles include Cavaradossi in Tosca, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Rodolfo in La Boheme. His UK debut came this September in Madama Butterfly with Opera North.
This album brings together a range of traditional tracks with popular contemporary tracks. There is a depth and honeyed quality to Noah’s voice that is going to see him become a household name in classical music circles.
The depth of music on this debut album is quite astonishing but it showcases the talent and the range Noah Stewart is capable of, and how well he sings in Italian.
Noah opens with a beautiful The Sound Of Music Medley which features the vocals of Australia’s own Rachael Leahcar and Sally Cooper on violin. This is one of the four new tracks exclusive to Australia. The album then moves through operatic arias Recondita armonia and Pourquoi me reveiller, worldwide favourites Amazing Grace and Ave Maria, religious offerings Nearer My God to Thee and I’ll Walk with God.
There are also some surprising offerings in Notte Di Luce (Nights in White Satin), Campos De Oro (Fields of Gold) and Stille Nacht (Silent Night), I know Notte Di Luce has Italian lyrics so I am guessing that is the case is the same for the other two tracks.
We can’t forget the touching rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah which has been performed by countless artists, most of the quite well, and this is no exception – Noah Stewart certainly does this track the justice it deserves.
A diverse and rounded collection of tracks to showcase his talent and let the world know that Noah Stewart is here and he intends to stay.
