Interview: Renee Bargh

Renee Bargh has been in the entertainment industry for a long time. Previously she played the role of a backup singer for the likes of Delta Goodrem and David “The Hoff” Hasselhoff, as well as enjoying a short stint in the made-on- TV vocal group, Girlband.

Renee then went on to become a co-host of Channel 7’s National Bingo Night, followed by a presenting role on Channel 9’s Surfari.

Channel [V] have now snapped up Renee Bargh and she is the newest VJ to join their team of music presenters.

Renee is gorgeous, talented and very much in demand and this month we asked her some questions:

B&L: Dancing, Singing, Modelling, Television – you are a talented girl – which are you most passionate about?

I have always been passionate about dancing and have such an appreciation for dancers, but deep down I have always wanted to be on television, presenting. So I really feel like I am living my dream.

B&L: What do you love most about being a television host?

I’d have to say just getting to do something different everyday. The shows are never the same and you are always working with different people so the dynamic always changes. It’s very exciting.

B&L: What is it like working for Channel [V]?

Unreal! Getting to chat about music, check out live gigs and interview artists is so much fun, and the Channel [V] crew is awesome – we have a great time.

B&L: Do you still catch up with the girls from Girlband?

We are all very busy doing our own thing so we haven’t caught up much. I do see Jess a lot though…we are great friends.

B&L: Which famous celebrity would you most like to meet and why?

Renee: Justin Timberlake. I saw him live this year and was in awe of how incredible he is as an entertainer, he is so talented. I would love to see what he is like as a person, as he is such a superstar.

B&L: How did your career in the entertainment industry begin?

Renee: I had been a dancer all my life but I moved to Sydney to study performing arts at Brent Street in 2004. I was picked up by an agent when I graduated and I started work as a commercial dancer and model straight after, and the rest is history.

B&L: Who are your favourite bands and singers at the moment?

Renee: MGMT, The Ting Tings, Robyn, Death Cab for Cutie, India Arie… the list goes on.

B&L: How do you like to relax?

Renee: A long walk on the beach is the best way for me to gather my thoughts and relax. Unfortunately I don’t get to do that too much anymore as I don’t live that close to the beach, so just curling up with a good book in the sun is my second best option.

B&L: What is one thing we wouldn’t know about you?

Renee: I’m extremely passionate about food. I am always thinking about food and what I am going to eat next – it makes me excited! I can easily be won over with food!

B&L: How would you describe your fashion style?

Renee: It varies depending on my mood. Sometimes very boho and casual chic, other times very girly and glamorous. I love layering and teaming a really sexy dress with a tailored or leather jacket. But other days I will just wear an oversized T-shirt with tights and be super comfy!

B&L: What’s next for Renee Bargh?

Renee: I feel so blessed to be where I am at the moment and I have no idea what’s next – that would take away the fun of it! Hopefully I can become the best music show host I can be and see how far it can take me. The sky’s the limit!

B&L: What does being a woman mean to you?

Renee: It means embracing my femininity and loving it. Dressing up for a night out, spending quality time with my girlfriends, shopping for makeup and being able to cry when I need to, are the best things about being a woman.

You can catch Renee Bargh on Channel [V]
