I find myself always in the middle of something and often don’t actually curl up on the couch to watch TV. I have made an exception for Under The Dome, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, and 8.30 Tuesday nights is couch time with hubby. That one hour of Channel Ten programming a week has got me interested in the upcoming Australian romantic comedy drama series Wonderland.
Wonderland is set in an aging beach-side apartment building in Sydney. It follows four different couples navigating life, love and friendship and the first episode revolves around a wedding.
The 22 part series is being produced by FremantleMedia Australia, a big name in Australian TV with shows like Neighbours, The X Factor, The Farmer Wants A Wife and MANY more to their credit. The show was co-created by Jo Porter and Sarah Walker. Sarah Walker is well known as a writer and script producer on huge Australian shows Home and Away and All Saints. The series was filmed on location in Sydney so you can be sure of some gorgeous scenery, beautiful beaches and I would expect some smoking hot extras to grace the screens at times as well.
There are some fantastic Australian names starring in Wonderland, actors that we have watched do a lot of growing up on our screens and I am really looking forward to seeing what they have to offer this time round.
Leading the cast as defamation lawyer Grace Barnes is Brooke Satchwell whose career began with 3 years on Neighbours, roles in Water Rats, White Collar Blue, Tripping Over, Dangerous, Canal Road and Packed To The Rafters. She is definitely an Australian actress we have watched grow before our eyes.
Also starring in this his new show are Jessica Tovey who we grew to love as Belle Taylor in Home and Away, she also played roles in Underbelly, Rescue Special Ops and a number of other small parts. In Wonderland she plays the sassy and confident PR girl Dani Varvaris.
Tim Ross is Steve Beaumont, he also got his start on Neighbours as well as roles in Rush and one of the Underbelly TV movies.
Michael Dorman plays playboy bachelor Tom Wilcox and he may be remembered from The Secret Life of Us, Wild Boys and The Time of Our Lives (which aired on ABC1 from June 2013).
Ben Mingay plays Rob Duffy and has previously graced our screens in Blue Heelers, Packed to the Rafters and All Saints.
The other major players are Anna Bamford, Emma Lung, Glenn McMillan, Tracy Mann and Michael Booth.
Wonderland moves into the screening slot vacated by Offspring after the season finale on the 14th. The network hopes that Wonderland will tap into the established audience of Offspring and keep them watching in this time slot.
Season Premiere Wednesday August 21st at 8.30pm.

Have you seen Wonderland?
My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
