The 80 Aces are back! The indie alternative rockers are celebrating the release of their new EP with a launch gig at Pony in Melbourne.
Dollars is the new EP and it is set for release this weekend, and the celebratory launch gig at the Pony in Melbourne will be on Saturday July 28. Magic Shoes is the first single from the EP and it’s out and about in the world making waves.
The 80 Aces debut single in 2011 was I’m Trying To Read Your Mind, and it got a heap of airplay, now with the release of Magic Shoes they may be headed for a repeat performance.
The EP was recorded and produced by Steven Schram, who has also worked with Cat Empire, The Vasco Era, Little Red and San Cisco. The band were thrilled when he accepted their request to record their EP in Warrnambool.
“We loved his work with Ground Components and The Vasco Era, and the way he kept a rawness to their songs while making them sound shiny and new,” explains guitarist Matt Neal, “we can’t wait to show people ‘Dollars’. To me it seems like the perfect summation of what we do – it’s poppy but it’s noisy, it’s dancey but hopefully smart, and most of all, it rocks.”
These Warrnambool boys have shared the stage with the likes of Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I, The Vasco Era, Dan Kelly and more.
The 80 Aces are:
Jade McLaren – vocals
Matt Neal – guitar/vocals
Jarrod Harker – drums
Kyle McLaren – bass/vocals
The 80 Aces are known for their rocking, energetic live show so you can be sure that the launch gig at the Pony in Melbourne is going to be worth the $6. Get down there and check them out on July 28.

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
Actually went along to this one with a few girlfriends. They’re hot and talented too!
