All Things Bright and Beautiful – Owl City

Owl City is one very talented man locked in his basement making magical music on his keyboards, and the music is magical. Owl City is a melodious electronic pop that can’t help but lift your mood.

Regardless of the subject matter, which is sometimes quite deep, the upbeat melody and catchy lyrics will have you tapping your feet and turning up the volume. I haven’t been able to help myself, and have had the CD on repeat for the last week.

In the wake of 12 million tracks sold globally, and Fireflies being a #1 single in 23 countries and the best selling single of 2010 in Australia and the UK Owl City returns to do it all again with ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’, which is available now!

This is an all-new studio album kicked off by the lead single ‘Alligator Sky’ featuring Shawn Chrystopher, a music scene newcomer. And it was beautifully timed to coincide with the video release for ‘Alligator Sky’ on the 17th June.

‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ is a studio album controlled by Owl City, start to finish! In the same vein as the beginning of his career, where he sat down in his parents basement and played with the sounds by myself, he has been a part of every step of this album.

Owl City is Adam Young and his name dominates the CD booklet! Produced and engineered by Adam Young. Mixed by Adam Young and Jack Joseph Pulg. assisted by Joe Corey. All songs written by Adam Young, Alligator Sky with Shawn Chrytstopher and Plant Life with Matthew Thiesson. Strings arranged by Adam Young, Laura Mursten and Hannah Schroeder. And there’s also Art Direction and Design by StudioAKT and Adam Young. So this is well and truly still his dream, his vision and the product of his inspiration – which I find truly inspiring.

Vocals on this album aren’t all done by Adam though. There is Shawn Chrystopher on Alligator Sky which adds a whole new feel to the song when you listen to it after the no rap version.

Breanne Duren lends her vocal chords to Honey and the Bee, turning it into a gorgeous and heartwarming duet that I could listen to over and over.

There is also Joan Young vocals on Hospital Flowers, Lights vocals on The YachtClub and Matthew Thiessen on Plant Life.

Hot on the heels of the new album and it’s success is the Owl City 2011 world tour coming to Australian shores in August, Europe in September and October and Asia in October. For more tour details head over and check out the website at: http://owlcitymusic.com
