The worst thing about most concert announcements and start of ticket sales is that you know there is still months or weeks to wait until you finally get to see the musicians you love strutting their stuff on stage.
Not so with Skrillex! The official announcement of the 2 hour DJ set at The MET in Fortitude Valley coincided with tickets going on sale through Oztix and Moshtix. The 2 hour DJ set that is being played next Saturday the 10th March!
The fact that this show has no lead up marketing is a risk but The MET’s Director of Entertainment is confident that the fans will spread the word, the official midnight announcement was made through Twitter and Facebook because that’s where a lot of the fans are. Synchronising the announcement with tickets going on sale seemed like the fairer way to go after the recent discontent at ticket-sites crashing and scalping.
Skrillex are currently touring Australia as part of the Future Music Festival and the Met show is one of only two shows outside of the Festival. The other is at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on March 7 and is already sold out.
On the 10th Skrillex will play the Future Music Festival in Sydney during the day and then jump on a plane to play the night-set at the Met, which is Over 18’s only.
