And the concert announcements go on! It is shaping up to be a huge week in ticket sales for big name concerts, perhaps it should have waited for the week after the massive lotto draw so we could afford all of the best tickets!
The reigning king and queen of country music have finally set a date – to tour Australia together. Next March will be the first time the country music stars have toured together outside of North America and will be the first time Faith Hill has toured Australia. The Tim McGraw & Faith Hill / Australia 2012 tour will include them performing both separately and together.
The concert experience would not be complete without renditions of Live Like You Were Dying, Everywhere and Real Good Man from McGraw; Breathe, This Kiss and The Way You Love Me by Faith Hill as well as their duets It’s Your Love, Let’s Make Love and I Need You.
There is already a headline performance announced at CMC Rocks the Hunter on March 18 and now there are an extra six nights booked – one night each in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and two nights in Brisbane.
The long awaited Tim McGraw & Faith Hill / Australia 2012 tour touches down at the Burswood Dome in Perth on March 14 – starting on the opposite side of the country, that’s something I don’t notice very often. They then come across our way and play the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on March 16 before the CMC Rocks the Hunter performance on March 18 on their way to play the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on March 20. Next they head up to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 23 & 24 before wrapping up the tour at what used to be Sydney’s Acer Arena on March 27 – on September 1 it became Sydney’s Allphones Arena.
The Tim McGraw & Faith Hill / Australia 2012 tour is only the fourth time the country couple have toured together and the last was almost five years ago.
The 2006/2007 tours made theirs the highest grossing country music tour of all time and the highest grossing of any tour that year. It beat Madonna, Tom Petty and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Since the early 90’s McGraw and Hill have produced 70 million record sales, 8 Grammys and 46 US number one singles between them – I’d say that’s a pretty dominating force, no wonder they managed the highest grossing tour.
Faith Hill is a crossover artist, a multi-platinum one, who stills receives quite a bit of airplay on Australian radio for This Kiss and The Way You Love Me; she has performed at two Super Bowls, The Academy Awards and The Grammy Awards as well as being on the cover of (not The Rolling Stone which is what just jumped into my head. Talk country music and I immediately think Dr Hook) People Magazine, Marie Claire and In Style as well as other publications.
Tim McGraw was in Australia in 2010 for his Southern Voice tour and his Brisbane Entertainment Centre show sold out in 15 minutes, Melbourne and Sydney did the same and it was necessary to add a second Brisbane show and an outdoor show in Townsville.
This pair of country superstars are amazing on their own but put them together and they become a whole new entity – even better than could have bee imagined.
These concerts are the first Australian shows for Faith Hill and the first for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill together in Australia – get in quick because tickets are sure to sell out fast.
