The Paper Kites to Tour and release new Single

The Paper Kites are an indie folk quintet from Melbourne and they are gearing up to head out on a national headline tour of Australia to celebrate the release of their new single St Clarity. Heading out from Newcastle the tour will hit Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle and Hobart before returning to The Forum for a homecoming show.

As well as St Clarity, The Paper Kites have also announced the imminent release of their debut album, States, highly anticipated by the tens of thousands of fans they have wooed across the world with their first two EPs Woodland and Young North.

St Clarity is the first single released from the album, produced by The Paper Kites with Wayne Connolly the ARIA winning producer who has worked with You Am I and Josh Pyke.

Frontman Sam Bentley explains the lyrical meaning behind the song saying, “At its heart, the song is about the beauty of finding clarity in a situation, seeing things from a perspective that’s clear – from an angle you haven’t seen before.”

Natasha Pincus is a two time ARIA winning director, the brains behind Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know, the band decided that they wanted to work with her not because of this clip but because of her belief in the importance of telling a story. The St Clarity clip tells a story that highlights the beauty to be found in life’s simple things and starring French artist Sylvain Letuvée.

The Paper Kites have nurtured a loyal fan-base through their extensive travel across the country in support of Josh Pike, Boy & Bear and Bombay Bicycle Club, as well as on their own headline tours. The success of Bloom, Featherstone and A Maker Of My Time combined with their extensive touring have seen their live following grow and their upcoming tour is set to be their biggest dates yet. Following the Australian tour the band are heading to the US for their first run of shows States-side as they play the main support slot for City And Colour’s major national The Hurry and The Harm US Tour.
