Brian Campeau and Elana Stone are the backbone of The Rescue Ships and both are recognised singer/songwriters in their own right, they were also the music directors of ‘Underbelly: Razor’, now they are back with new single ‘City Life’ and touring the east coast of Australia to launch the single.
City Life comes from their debut album which is being recorded at the moment with a host of musical friends helping out, it is being recorded at Impure Cabana, Brian’s Newtown studio in inner city Sydney.
Elana has described the song like this: “a song about living in the city and looking for love, or even just a connection. It’s strange that we can be lonely even while we are surrounded by so many people. And the scariest part is, even when we find these people to love, we are still ultimately alone. Depressing much? Much.”
The list of well known and well loved artists that both Brian and Elana have worked with is quite impressive; the list of Australian artists includes Josh Pyke, Angus and Julia Stone, Bluejuice, Washington, The Cat Empire, Katie Noonan, and Urthboy. Internationally they have worked with Joanna Newsom, Passenger and Khaki King. This pair are no strangers to the big leagues and they are eying off a spot of their own.
Rescue Ships are a modern blend of folk, pop and rock that flawlessly combines the beautiful voice of Stone with that of Campeau and brings together each of their unique styles to create something new and quirky. Check them out if you can!
The single is available from iTunes now.

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
