Naomi Braun is a singer, songwriter and music producer from Melbourne in the midst of a very big July with the launch of her first single, the new full length album and the release of the video clip for the first single.
Deeper is the first single released from the Through The Devils Wood album and it went out to media on the 2nd of July, the album release will be celebrated with a launch gig at The Toff on Thursday July 26 where she will be supported by popular London hip hop artist and music producer Lotek.
Through The Devils Wood is a collection of 11 tracks, beat-driven pop songs with strong cinematic appeal. Naomi produced the album in her home studio, Naomi also directed the album and collaborated with some well known musicians and film makers. Lotek co-produced some of the tracks and mixed the album, he is well known for his work with the Hilltop Hoods and Roots Manuva. Lotek brings his big horn sound and fast paced skank to the mix, complimenting Naomi’s well crafted songs.
Also featured on the album are New York’s Johanny Paulino aka Gabriel on Live in Lies and the title track, Through The Devils Wood, is a collaboration with Jamaican reggae masters Sly and Robbie, who you may know from their work with No Doubt, Grace Jones and Madonna.
Erykah Badu, Portishead and Santigold are all artists that Naomi has been compared with, she has a diverse range of vocal styles and utilises many different musical genres in her unique blending of soul, dub, electro and the spoken word to create the epic masterpiece that is Through The Devils Wood.
Independent Melbourne film company Who By Fire produced the film clip for Deeper, set in remote forestry an hour out of Melbourne. Naomi specifically headed for the left-field path and an artistic approach to the film, delving into the realm of fantasy for the clip. It’s a look beautifully suited to the track and I could tell you all about it but it will be much more powerful if you watch for yourself.
July is the month of new for Naomi and here is some information to help you get to the new stuff.
