Marcia Hines requires no introduction in most Australian households, she is known for her music and role as judge on Australian Idol. Her new album “Tapestry” will be in stores from October 1st and on it you will find the songs of Carole King performed by Marcia.
Marcia Hines took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to answer some questions for us:
What made you choose Carole King in particular?
Carole king has a great gift of songwriting, and I like her lyrics as well as the messages she writes.
You have been in the music industry for 40 years, what is your secret to staying relevant?
I try to understand what’s going on, and also realise it’s all about expression.
What is life like after Australian Idol?
Busier than ever, and I get to sing more, which I love.
Have you kept in contact with any of the contestants?
Some of the kids stay in touch, I don’t push it because I was in their faces quite a lot, so contact is their choice.
What do you love most about performing?
There is something about performing that is unexplainable, so I won’t try and cheapen it with words.
What is something we wouldn’t know about Marcia Hines?
That I actually find housework therapeutic. You see your hard work when it’s done.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Interesting, sporty, unusual, not frou frou and definitely my own.

Justin Timberlake, Eminem, Lady GaGa, Train, NeYo, Usher, Pink
What was it like discovering you had diabetes?
A shock at first, but what could I do but deal with it?!
What lifestyle changes have you had to make to accommodate your medical issues?
I eat much better and more regularly.

I’m going to finish this questionnaire and get back to cleaning my bedroom.
What does being a woman mean to you?
I can’t imagine not being one. I LOVE being a woman.
