Interview: Forever Ends Here

Today we have Luke from Forever Ends Here with us to have a chat about the band, their new single “Chapters” and their upcoming tour:

How would you describe your music?

Once upon a time we would have said pop punk, but we’ve finally developed our own unique sound. I’d say it’s pop rock with a synth edge to it and straight to the point melodies.

How did you first get together?

Myself and Mav met in year 7 and bonded over a love for music so we started a band with Kane (my brother). 2 years down the track we found Jackson through the local music scene and asked him to join. We changed our name to Forever Ends Here and began fresh.

Where did the name come from?

To be honest I think it was from a band name generator. We were going to make it “Forever Starts Now” for something a little more positive but decided that “Forever Ends Here” flowed nicer.

Where do you get your inspiration?

It ranges from literally anywhere between hearing a catchy melody on the radio to hearing your mates talk about how proud they are of a song they’ve written. We’re constantly surrounded by music and people that push us to keep doing what we love and keep improving.

If you could describe each member of the group in just one word, what would they be?

Kane – The Dad
Mav – Suave
Jackson – Clumsy
Luke – I’m gunna answer for the rest of the boys and say “Diva”

Favourite song of all time?

It’s so hard to pick, but I’m gunna have to say ‘Good Riddance’ by Green Day. It was the first song I ever learned on guitar, and probably the first song that really inspired me to write music.

Tell us a little bit about the Parks N Parties Tour…

We wanted to do something super intimate and a little different. We’re playing a bunch of 18+ club shows and free acoustic park shows across the east coast. We’re half way through the tour now and it’s exceeded our expectations already. All the fans have been so lovely, both new and old. It’s been awesome to be able to meet every single one of them, hear their thoughts on our new music and answer any questions they have.

Funniest band story….

We play a game on tour called “what are the chances”. In short, you ask someone “what are the chances that you _____”. Once they’ve chosen a number between 1 and 100, you count down from 3 and each say a number between 1 and their chosen number. If you say the same number, they have to do it. So far it’s resulted in me running the streets of Adelaide wearing nothing but a pink sock on my you-know-what, Mav walking onto the stage with his pants around his ankles, Jackson squishing his naked body up against the window for passing cars to see, me eating a fly etc. The stories are endless.

Where would you most like to play in the world?

I’ve always had a thing for New York and would love to play their for the sake of seeing the city, but in general we’d love to play anywhere and everywhere where people support what we do. We’d love the chance to play to every fan we have.

What is your new single ‘Chapters’ all about?

To put it simply, it’s about every chapter of your life shaping the person you are today. I did a lot of growing up in the past year or 2 and strongly believe that we should only ever learn from our experiences, however good or bad.

What is next for Forever Ends Here?

Unfortunately after this tour Jackson can no longer continue on with FEH due to personal reasons – so we’re in the process of locking in a new guitarist. We’re trying to make the process as quick as possible so that we can keep the ball rolling. We have a tone of new music ready to release that we’re extremely proud of and we plan on hitting the road as much as possible to debut our new music in a live setting. I think it’s going to be a big year for us.

Where can we see you perform?

This weekend (March 5/6) we’ll be playing Newcastle and Canberra, and the following weekend we finish the Parks n Parties tour in Melbourne. Make sure you keep up to date with our Facebook page for any upcoming tour announcements and show details.
