Face The Music is one of the most important events on the Victorian music calendar. This non profit music summit will be held at the Arts Centre in Melbourne on Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th November, 2012.
The key speakers this year will include Primavera Sound Festival’s Almudena Heredero and renowned US label owner, entrepreneur, artist and educator Martin Atkins. The two day event is run in partnership with Melbourne Music Week and will host a pastiche of local and international professionals in the industry.
Martin Atkins has three decades of music business experience to utilise as he helps artists striving to succeed on their own terms. He is the author of the 2007 book Tour: Smart: And Break the Band and has shared his unique perspectives of the music industry at recent conferences SXSW, Warped Tour, CMJ and New Music Seminar.
Almudena Heredero is the founder of Followspot, the international arts consultancy. She also represents the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, which is one of the most important, and largest, festivals in Europe with over 100,000 people attending in recent years. Almudena will be revealing music business opportunities for Australians, the best way to approach the European market and discussing the current trends in Europe.
Face The Music 2012 covers tour management, music release strategies, making inroads in the USA, crowd funding and music in film and TV, it will also deliver exclusive one-on-one business opportunities, panel sessions and networking of a standard yet to be seen at the Face The Music conferences.
