Red Widow is an American drama series starring Australia’s own Radha Mitchell as housewife Marta Walraven, whose life is about to change dramatically. Her husband is assassinated and Marta needs to step into a life of organised crime to track down her husbands killer.
Melissa Rosenberg, writer of the Twilight saga screenplays and Dexter, created this American mob drama based on a 2010 Dutch series called Penoza created by Pieter Bart Korthuis and Diederik van Rooijen.
Marta Walraven finds herself embroiled in the mess that saw her husband murdered and working for the mob in order to keep her family safe. All the while working with her family of Russian gangsters to discover who killed her husband and exact revenge.
Starring alongside Radha Mitchell are many actors and actresses new to me, but skimming the cast I did discover another home grown Australian talent in Wil Traval who would be known for his roles in Underbelly, All Saints and most recently Rescue Special Ops. In Red Widow Traval plays Irwin Petrov, brother of Radha’s character Marta.
My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
