It was back in March that we started hearing about Coldplay heading to our shores this November for their Mylo Xyloto tour and now Chugg Entertainment have finally been able to confirm the details of four stadium shows in Australia and New Zealand.
2011 saw Coldplay make a quick trip to Australia for Splendour in the Grass, before that it was the extremely successful 2009 tour for Viva La Vida.
The November 2012 tour is set to be the biggest and the best to-date if sales of the current album, Mylo Xyloto, is anything to go by; their fifth studio album has been their most successful in Australia and has achieved double platinum status.
The new single features Rihanna as a guest vocalist and was released to radio May 7, it went over so well that it fast became the Most Added Song to playlists across the country and is available now on iTunes. It follows hot on the heels of Charlie Brown, which was also a radio favourite. Paradise has been the most popular Coldplay single in Australia and is now certified four times platinum.
“We can’t wait to get back to Australia this November. It’s such a special place for us. These venues are pretty huge, the Aussie crowds are always incredible and we’ll be bringing everything we’ve got. It’s going to be big” said Chris Martin
The Temper Trap have picked up the support spot for Australia and New Zealand and fans can expect to hear tracks from the new album at the shows. The Temper Trap’s second studio album is self-titled and set for a May 18 release, it follows the platinum selling debut Conditions which has now sold over 800,000 copies worldwide. Two of the new tracks you can expect to hear are Rabbit Hole and the new single Need Your Love.
Each show will be opened by The Pierces, in their first Australian performances. The Pierces are sister act Allison and Catherine Pierce who have recently released You & I which is available now on iTunes, it is an album that has already been quite successful in the UK and has just been released in the US. The Pierces would seem to be a natural choice for openers having Coldplay bass player Guy Berryman and producer/engineer Rik Simpson co-produce the album, and feature Coldplay drummer Will Champion.
Don’t risk missing out, this tour is sure to sell quick.

My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
