The 2012 Fright Night Film Festival spans three days from the 29th of June and takes place in Louisville, USA. This is one of the biggest horror and recognised horror festivals in the world. Included in the list of horror legend attendees are Bruce Campbell, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and Norman Reedus.
Australian made supernatural horror film ‘Muirhouse’ screened to standing room only audiences at the Cannes Film Festival and is hoping to follow up with similar success in Louisville at the iconic Fright Night Festival.
ʻBeing invited to not only attend but have our film participate at such an iconic horror festival is a massive honorʼ Writer/Director of ʻMuirhouseʼ Tanzeal Rahim comments ʻonly a handful of Australian movies over the years have had this opportunity, and we are so thrilled that ʻMuirhouseʼ has been selected to join that list!ʼ
‘Muirhouse’ follows the precedent of ‘The Blair Witch Project’ and ‘Paranormal Activity’, the film is documentary style and set in the Monte Christo Homestead which is Australia’s most haunted house.
Australian actor Iain PF MacDonald plays Philip Muirhouse, a ghost hunter on a promotional tour launching his book about supernatural phenomena. Muirhouse agrees to spend a night in Australia’s most haunted house as a publicity stunt, unfortunately him being along in the house was never part of the deal.
This film is based on actual events at the house, happenings with documented recordings captured by paranormal experts. The terrifying events of the night Philip Muirhouse spent alone in the Monte Christo Homestead were recorded in real time by camera and audio devices which make for a suspenseful viewing experience.
We wish all involved with ‘Muirhouse’ the best of luck at the 2012 Fright Night Film Festival and look forward to seeing ‘Muirhouse’ on a screen a little closer to home.
