Album Review: Unforgettable – Gregg Arthur

Unforgettable is a musical portrait of Nat “King” Cole, Gregg Arthur’s tribute to one of musics great talents.

Gregg Arthur worked with Michael Hope¬† to reinterpret the Nat “King” Cole classics contained on this album, he wanted to shine a different light on these songs without damaging their familiarity. In keeping with this concept Arthur wanted to record in the same way Cole did in his time, in one large studio all together and that’s how they did it.

I am not familiar with a lot of these tracks as performed by Nat “King” Cole but the ones I am I can certainly say that Gregg Arthur has done justice.

Instantly recognisable classics such as Unforgettable and When I Fall In Love remain close enough to the original that you could still sing along with the track without missing many beats.

Romantic, elegant and suave with a gentility reminiscent of the era Gregg Arthur has chosen his songs from, this album is sure to satisfy fans of the originals and lovers of jazz.

Reminiscent and nostalgic, ready for a trip back to the era of elegance – Gregg Arthur will take you there, his voice is perfectly suited to the tracks of the time.

Sit back , relax and allow Gregg Arthur and this talented group of musicians to transport you to a simpler time.
